What makes a European heat pump factory grow? The answer from the European Heat Pump Association, EHPA, is simple: people who buy heat pumps.
Demand drives the factories
The EU is currently working on the Industrial Accelerator Act, a new law to strengthen the production of green technology in Europe. EHPA supports the goal, but highlights an important point: factories invest when there is a strong and stable market for what they produce. More heat pumps in homes therefore mean more reasons to invest in Europe.
A strong European industry
The heat pump industry already accounts for around 480,000 jobs in the EU, and there are more than 300 factories for heat pumps and components in Europe. Between 80 and 90 % of the air-to-water heat pumps (monobloc) sold in Europe are also assembled in Europe.
One size does not fit all
A heat pump for a family home, a large district heating plant and an industrial heat pump are very different products, each with its own supply chain. That is why EHPA recommends that the rules take these differences into account and build on the industry’s strengths. Then consumers can continue to choose freely between good heat pumps.
Competitive electricity and stable support
According to EHPA, the law must go hand in hand with two things: electricity at a competitive price and predictable, long-term support for consumers. A strong market gives manufacturers the confidence to invest, expand production and create jobs. It is the green transition that builds a stronger Europe. And that is exactly the vision for varmepumper.eu: to become a European portal for European heat pumps – for users, installers, dealers and manufacturers.
